Shutting down or winding down
Closing your company? Your records may still be worth something
Years of email, chat, tickets and code show how real work got done. AI labs license that kind of record. Export it before the accounts close, then find out what it could be worth.
Yes, a company that is shutting down can often license its historical business records to AI labs, as long as the records still exist and someone has authority to sign. The most common mistake is cancelling tools first: cancelled accounts are often deleted. Export first, then get a free estimate.

What to do, in order
Don't cancel anything yet
Keep email, chat, helpdesk, CRM, drive and code hosting accounts open until exports are done and checked.
Export natively
Use each tool's own owner or admin export. Our shutdown data checklist lists them system by system.

Let us compare offers
We scope what's in and out, take an anonymized profile to the labs and data programs we work with, and give you a side-by-side comparison. You decide.
Founder questions
We're closing down. Is it too late?
No, and it's often the best time, as long as the records still exist. Accounts get deleted when subscriptions lapse, so export first. Our shutdown data checklist covers what to save.
What should we export before shutting down?
Native exports of email, team chat, helpdesk, CRM, docs and code repositories, plus a note of what each system contained and for which years. Do it before you cancel subscriptions, since cancelled accounts are often deleted. Our checklist goes system by system.
What does FileFunding cost?
Nothing. FileFunding is free for the company with the data: no fees, nothing up front and no cut taken from what you're paid. We're paid by the AI labs and data companies we work with directly. We also do the work (inventory, redaction and packaging), ourselves or together with the buyer using their methodology or accepted best-practice redaction.
Do we lose ownership of our data?
Usually not. Most deals are a license: the buyer gets the right to use a de-identified copy for training under contract terms, and you keep your records. Terms vary by deal, and you see them before you agree.
